Creepy Crawlies Melt & Pour Soap Recipe

Creepy Crawlies: Melt & Pour Soap Recipe

Halloween is an exciting holiday that is full of sweet treats and elaborate makeup and costumes that can end up making quite a mess on little hands.  Having a unique soap for the occasion can help encourage kids to clean up more frequently and help keep the mess at bay.  Seasonal soap is also a great way to extend Halloween decorating to every sink in the home.

These fun and spooky soaps are full of creepy crawlies and make a great addition or alternative to candy this Halloween season.  Each bar has a prize inside that is sure to have kids racing to wash their hands.  The clear soap base allows us to see all of the goodies inside each bar while Black Raspberry Vanilla Fragrance Oil adds an aroma that is sweet and fruity like a piece of Halloween candy.

Ingredients

Supplies

  • Heat Safe Bowl
  • Pot or Double Boiler
  • Spoon or Rubber Spatula
  • Heat Safe Soap Molds
  • 99% isopropyl alcohol in a misting spray bottle
  • Small Plastic Spiders, Bugs, Bats, Etc.

Instructions

Remember to wear gloves and always practice caution while working with hot materials.

  1. Chop Clear Melt and Pour Soap Base into smaller pieces and add them to a heat-safe bowl.

  2. Place the bowl on top of a pot with a few inches of water in it.  Bring the water to a boil and gently melt the soap, stirring occasionally.

  3. Remove the soap from heat and add fragrance oil, then thoroughly stir everything together.

  4. Add liquid color, a few drops at a time, until the mixture is brightly colored but still translucent.

  5. Pour about 1/3 of the soap mixture into your molds and mist the top with 99% isopropyl alcohol to dissipate any air bubbles.  Allow them to cool for 5 minutes so the add-ins will not sink to the bottom.

  6. Add a few of your creepy crawlies to each mold and mist them with alcohol again before topping them with the remaining soap mixture.

  7. Allow molds to cool and harden at room temperature for several hours.

  8. Remove the soap from the molds and wrap it tightly for storage.
